Closure Order issued. |
||
Dear Resident Please see the below press release regarding the Closure order for Sutton Coldfield massage parlour.
A massage parlour in Four Oaks has been ordered to close following an application by West Midlands Police. Officers from the Birmingham Serious Organised Crime and Exploitation Team (SOCEX) applied for the closure order as part of an investigation into indoor sex locations. Shangri La, on Bishops Way, was being advertised as a massage parlour, but SOCEX enquiries led them to believe it was being used as a brothel, where women were being exploited. Last Wednesday (10 September) officers issued an emergency closure notice for the premises for 48 hours. At Dudley Magistrates Court a day later, following an application by officers, a three-month closure order was issued for the premises, lasting until 10 December. Our investigation into the premises and the people involved is continuing, but the order now means anyone who enters it risks being fined, arrested, or even sent to prison. Sgt Paul Lakey, from SOCEX, said: “We’re pleased the court supported our application to close this location for three months – the maximum amount of time we can apply for by law. “Closing the premises is an important step in our investigation, which is continuing. “We remain absolutely committed to protecting those who are vulnerable and ultimately making communities better places for people to live, work, and visit.”
